TMAC is currently comprised of 450 members – writers, photographers, filmmakers, bloggers and social media mavens, as well as highly respected representatives of the travel industry. Membership is well represented from coast-to-coast-to-coast and supports four regional chapters: British Columbia, Alberta & NWT, Ontario and Atlantic with a goal to expand into Quebec.
Throughout the year, each chapter holds a series of local events, activities, presentations and professional development sessions and we were exceptionally fortunate to participate in the Alberta & NWT Chapter's 7th annual professional development and experience weekend, which brought together their 45 members in Lake Louise, AB.
Always seeking the latest information on ways to "green" one's travel experience combined with a strong desire to make a positive impact in honour of Earth Day, the TMAC Alberta & NWT Chapter welcomed us to speak to their members about the Guest Treewards program we offer to hotels, attractions and meeting planners as a means of connecting with their guests and increasing their profiles on social media, while restoring habitat in Alberta's boreal forest. No experiential weekend would be complete without an opportunity to experience the benefits of this program first hand, so naturally the TMAC Alberta & NWT Chapter decided to plant a tree for each workshop attendee so that they could see how simple it is to travel while keeping the health of our environment in mind.
As a result of this successful weekend partnership, the TMAC Alberta & NWT Chapter was able to create their very own forest, which they have encouraged their members to help continually grow along with their travel appetites.
