Simple made perfect...and sustainable.
Delta Hotels by Marriott had been on a sustainability journey for almost five years when we they first reached out to us to pilot a partnership in 2014. At that time they had already taken strides to minimize their energy needs, water use and waste creation through their internal hotel operations. Most of these important steps were largely been done behind the scenes at each location, while their guests enjoyed their stays. This commitment to a decreasing footprint is the right thing to do, and we proudly tip our farmer hats to their team for walking the walk on sustainability.
Though Delta Hotels by Marriott’s journey to improve their own actions won’t end, including through Marriott International's Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction, the ability of their guests to actively support the pursuit of sustainability really began with the national launch of GreenSTAY™ in 2015.
The partnership recently celebrated the milestone of planting 100,000 trees. With the first trees having been planted in northern Alberta, the GreenSTAY program is moving its mission across Canada, with a focus on the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority – choosing the territory to combat the destructive effects of the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle.
